About the Event
The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California is considering the appointment of two U.S. Magistrate Judges. See General Order 764. Learn about the merit-based process by which U.S. Magistrate Judges are selected and appointed from San Diego FBA's distinguished panel in this virtual event.
U.S. District Judge Linda Lopez and U.S. Magistrate Judges Allison H. Goddard and Steve B. Chu discuss the duties of a magistrate judge and share their experiences regarding the application process. Chair of the Merit Selection Panel Shireen Matthews will provide an overview of the panel’s duties and the application review process for the U.S. Magistrate Judge position.
