The process by which U.S. Magistrate Judges are selected and appointed may not be familiar to many members of the bar. Learn about the merit-based process for the office of U.S. Magistrate Judge from San Diego FBA's distinguished panel.
U.S. District Judge Andrew G. Schopler and U.S. Magistrate Judge Steve B. Chu discuss the duties of a magistrate judge and share their experiences regarding the application process. Chair of the Merit Selection Panel Shireen Matthews will provide an overview of the panel’s duties and the application review process for the U.S. Magistrate Judge position.
