Courtroom Conversation with Presiding Magistrate Judge Karen S. Crawford

The San Diego Chapter of the Federal Bar Association extends its gratitude to presiding Magistrate Judge Karen S. Crawford for sharing her decades of wisdom and experience as a jurist and practitioner in the most recent edition of the Courtroom Conversation series. Sixty-six members of the legal community enjoyed the event in Judge Crawford's courtroom on May 28, 2024.

Amongst the most important professional insights Judge Crawford and her staff shared was the instruction to “Be on time and be prepared.” Judge Crawford emphasized the importance of engaging in a meaningful meet and confer processes with opposing counsel, always reviewing the chamber rules, and carefully reviewing pleadings and plea agreements before submission. Judge Crawford also gave special guidance to young attorneys to seek out mentors early and often, join local organizations to develop relationships and give back to the community, guard your reputation, and own your mistakes.
