Member Spotlight:
Melissa Maria Holmes is a Senior Deputy Counsel for San Diego County, where she has tried eight federal civil jury trials in the past six years. San Diego FBA Member Josh Dutton charts Ms. Holmes's career from judicial extern to supervising attorney. He shares that Ms. Holmes is not only an experienced trial lawyer, but also a mentor who champions junior attorneys and appreciates the civility of the Southern District's bench and bar.
Chapter Updates:
Thank you to the nearly 160 participants who tuned in for our How to Apply to Be a U.S. Magistrate Judge. The distinguished panelists answered audience questions and provided invaluable guidance on how to be a competitive applicant. The free webinar is now available on our website as a resource for future vacancies.
Last month also featured our Eighth Annual Ethics, Competence, and Elimination of Bias All-Day MCLE Event. The event included six hours of hard-to-get MCLE credits and will be added to our MCLE On Demand store soon.
The San Diego FBA is seeking nominations for our Chapter Awards: the Outstanding Advocate Award, the Distinguished Service Award, and the Rising Attorney Award. Please see the award criteria and nomination requirements here. Nominations are requested by March 1, 2022.
