Dear San Diego Chapter Members,
As we begin 2021, I am greeting the New Year with purpose. It is my honor to serve the federal family as President of the Federal Bar Association, San Diego Chapter. Thank you for this opportunity.
Throughout all of the challenges of the past year, the Federal Bar Association has remained strong. Under the leadership of Immediate-Past President David Finn, our Chapter launched a new website, converted our most popular events to Zoom webinars, and recently launched MCLE on demand. I am committed to building on these advances, with the help of our newly installed Board of Directors, and with continued engagement by members like you. The FBA will work diligently to bring you professional, educational, and social events highlighting the diversity of federal practice in San Diego. We hope you will join us for some new events this year, as well as familiar favorites.

Passing of the Gavel:

In an illuminating profile, Moana McMullan describes Judge Sabraw's path from law school to becoming the next Chief Judge. She shares insight into Judge Sabraw's "three pillars" of strength, his love and devotion to his family, and his respect for our system of justice.

FBA National's conference will focus on the False Claims Act in times of crisis, including changes in enforcement priorities that may follow the COVID-19 pandemic. This annual event, dubbed “the Oscars for False Claims Act nerds” by a panelist at 2020’s sold-out conference, provides timely perspectives from all sides of the FCA ecosystem: prosecutors, relator-side attorneys, defense counsel, inspectors general, federal judges, and in-house counsel.
