Dean Chemerinsky Delivers Insightful Review of 2024–2025 Supreme Court Term

On October 30, 2025, the San Diego Chapter presented “2025 Supreme Court Case Review Featuring Dean Erwin Chemerinsky.”
Dean Chemerinsky is the Dean of Berkeley Law, where he serves as the Jesse H. Choper Distinguished Professor of Law. Prior to assuming this position he was the founding dean of the University of California, Irvine School of Law, and a professor at Duke Law School, University of Southern California Law School, and DePaul Law School. He is the author of 19 books and over 200 law review articles. He frequently argues appellate cases, including in the United States Supreme Court. In 2022, he was the President of the Association of American Law Schools.
Over 100 people tuned in to hear Dean Chemerinsky recount the momentous October 2024–2025 Supreme Court term over Zoom. He discussed significant cases, including those concerning restricting the use of nationwide injunctions; First Amendment speech and religion cases; and the firing of government employees. Dean Chemerinsky also previewed several upcoming cases from the October 2025 term involving civil rights and presidential power. Finally, Dean Chemerinsky answered questions from webinar participants, including discussing the shadow docket and congressional redistricting.
