University of San Diego Kroc Institute for Peace & Justice

Join us on June 7th for the 2023 Annual Conference & Award Ceremony. This year's topic is Speaking to Influence: How to Advocate for Clients and Yourself, and the San Diego FBA will also present its annual Chapter awards.

The Conference will give lawyers of all stages of their career tools and insight to better advocate for their clients and themselves. Our external advocacy panel will explore how lawyers, as advocates, can persuade others, including clients, judges, and juries, through use of inclusive and thoughtful language. Our internal advocacy panel will examine how lawyers can listen to and use their inner voice to navigate their career path and personal wellness. Keynote speaker Corryn Kivett will address how to use powerful and persusive language in all facets of our profession. The San Diego FBA will also present its annual Chapter awards.

Community Update:

 

The Southern District is considering the appointment of one full-time United States Magistrate Judge, contingent upon a vacancy in the office which will be created upon Magistrate Judge William V. Gallo's retirement in October 2023.


The application form and further information on the Magistrate Judge position may be obtained from the Court’s website. The Magistrate Judge application must be e-mailed to John Morrill, Clerk of Court for the Southern District of California, at CASD_Executive@casd.uscourts.gov no later than June 16, 2023.
